… Since when did “Homophobe” become “hate speech”, when it essentially describes someone who hates homosexuals?
Hate is learned, folks. It isn’t a natural thing.
Destruction of a Naievete
Over the years, i’ve had the odd thing about me that although there were stupid people, they could learn to have common sense. Some time later, I found that not all of them would actually be willing unless their worldview was proven false, and the wool burned from their eyes. I wanted to be a voice to teach the ignorant, to show them that what they were taught isn’t necessarily true.
Now, I wear sunglasses because the blurred, darkened view of what I see is easier on my eyes instead of the focused, clear view of the stupidity I see in this world.
I seek hope in the victories in the name of intelligence and common sense, and get despair in the immensely painful failures I see in the victories in the name of ignorance and stupidity.
Sometimes I wonder if in old age if I will be nearly as stubborn towards the next generation.
